Here at Heartland Animal Clinic, we now offer DNA Breed Identification. This test will
be able to tell you what breeds are in your mixed breed dog. The DNA test is based
upon the database of AKC recognized breeds. Knowing what breeds are present in
your dog will help you have a better understanding of your dogs behavior,
personality and any potential health risks that can arise with that  breed. All it takes
is a quick swab of inside your pets mouth, send the swabs off to the lab, and then
the test results comes back within a month. Give us a call today to set an
appointment to find out what breed your dog really is!!! Here are the results on two
of our pets:
Do You Ever Wonder What Breed
Your Dog Is?
This is Romey, she is 2 years old. Tiffany
adopted Romey, from a couple who could no
longer take care of her. Tiffany thought she was a
Boxer Mix, this is what her DNA Ancestry came
back as:

1. 75%- Boxer

Romey's test only came back as Boxer. With the
percentage of 75%  or more, this means that
either her mom or dad was a pure bred boxer. We
believe that Romey is mixed with Staffordshire
Terrier, because unfortunately this is one of the
breeds that is not listed with the AKC.
This is R3. He belongs to our client Diane Maddox.
When R3 was a puppy he was found on the side of the
highway and Ms. Maddox decided to keep him. We
thought R3 had Mastiff in him due to his black face,
but the DNA results say differently! Here are his
results:

1. 37-74%- Cocker Spaniel
2. 20-36%- Boston Terrier
3. 20-36%- Italian Greyhound
4. 10%- Labrador Retriever
This is Chili. She is our Office
Manager's newest addition! Lori
thought Chili was a beagle mix. Here is
what her DNA came back as:

1. 37-74% - Italian Greyhound
2. 10-19% - Chihuahua
3. 10-19% - Maltese
4. 10-19% - Parson Russell Terrier
5. 10-19% - Schnauzer

Now we know where
Chili's long legs
come from!!
