DENTISTRY:
If your pet has bad breath he may need to have his teeth
cleaned. Plaque, gingivitis and periodontal disease can occur
in pets just like it does in us. These diseases can lead to
infection and pain, which may require the extraction of some
teeth. However, dental care is not just about saving teeth.
Dental infection can lead to infections of other parts of the
body, including the liver and kidneys. Eighty percent of dogs,
and 50% of cats over 3 yrs old have severe periodontal
disease. Prior to putting your pet under anesthesia we do
pre-surgical blood work which ensures that your pet's liver
and kidneys are okay to handle the anesthesia. Brushing daily
is the gold standard of dental care but few of us can do this
regularly enough to make
an impact. We provide additional treatment options that help
extend the life of our cleaning in conjunction with brushing at
home.
