Dr. Jill Sandler, DVM - Owner
It’s been nearly 20 years since Dr. Jill Sandler took over the reins at Heartland
Animal Clinic. Dr. Sandler, a 1984 graduate of the Kansas State University
College of Veterinary Medicine, had previously received a Bachelor of Science
degree in biology at K-State.
Upon graduation, Dr. Sandler served a two-year stint at Gage Animal Hospital in
Topeka. She and her husband Andy then moved to the Kansas City area where
she practiced at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Overland Park. She also
served as a relief veterinarian for local animal clinics. In 1989, she became an
associate Veterinarian at what was then called Santa Fe Animal Clinic. Two years
later the clinic’s owner retired; Dr. Sandler purchased the practice and renamed it
Heartland Animal Clinic to reflect its regional scope. Dr. Sandler has been married
to Andy for 27 years, and has two cats and two dogs who are all rescued from
various situations.
Dr. Jamie Wilson, DVM - Associate
Dr. Jamie Wilson holds a Bachelor Degree in Biology from the University of
Georgia and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia College of
Veterinary Medicine in 1993, where she was a member of the Phi Zeta honor
Society. After completing an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at
the University of Minnesota, she practiced in Auburn, Alabama while her
husband Eric, finished his residency in Veterinary Small Animal Surgery. Dr.
Wilson moved to Kansas City in 1996 and joined Heartland Animal Clinic in
October of 1997. She resides in Louisburg, Kansas with her husband Eric
Wilson, who is a board certified surgeon at Mission Med Vet. She also has a 9
year old son and 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Lori Ochoa - Office Manager
Lori started in the Veterinary business in 1989 as a kennel worker and
Veterinary Assistant. She joined Heartland Animal Clinic in November 1993
as a receptionist. Lori was promoted to Office Manager in 1999. Lori
believes in the highest level of customer service and encourages our
clients to give us feedback to help improve our patient care.
Lori's family includes her husband, Greg, two children and a pointer and
beagle mix.
Tiffany Price- Receptionist
Tiffany joined Heartland in 2007. She has 7 years previous
experience in customer relations. Tiffany's compassion and love
for animals is what inspired her to start working in the veterinary
field. She is currently working on her college degree in Business
Management.
When she is not working, she is at home with her fiance Tyler and
her six children: Monica age 11, Donte age 8, Seaira age 6, Jade
age 4, Justyss age 3 and Dominik 1 year. Her furry kids include
Romey, a Boxer Mix, Romeo an American Bulldog, two orange
tabbies named Meow Meow and Raja and Charlotte the rat!


Melynn Gasswint, RVT - Veterinary Technician
Melynn is a Registered Veterinary Technician and has been with us since
2006. She received her Bachelors of Animal Science at K-State in 2000 &
her Associates of Applied Science from the Bel-Rea Institute. She has also
spent time working for the Bronx Zoo. Melynn also appeared on a episode of
Animal Planets Emergency Vets.
Her family includes her husband Stan, her 4 cats Kitsune, Loki, Sarah &
Neko, a conure named Deanie, an Afican Gray named Noah, and 5
cockatiels.


Jackie White- Veterinary Assistant
Jackie began working for Heartland Animal Clinic in 1999.
She first started out as our Kennel Manager for 7 years,
and for the last 3 years she has become our Veterinary
Technician's right hand woman. She has been married to
John for 25 years, and he is a recently retired restaurant
owner. Jackie has always been a large breed dog owner,
and she currently owns two Siberian Huskies: Kirra who is
2 years old and Zepplin who is 1 year old. Her daughter,
Carrie, currently lives at home and is pursuing a career in
fashion merchandise, and her son, Travis, is currently
enjoying his life in Colorado.

Hilary Raby- Kennel Manager
Hilary came to Heartland Animal Clinic in 2006 with 21 years professional
experience. Hilary started caring for animals as a small child, helping her
mother with the business of breeding and raising Afghan hounds. As a young
adult she started work at Wayside Waifs as an assistant. She went on to work
at Land of Paws. She can now be found here doing her best to make sure
your pets are happy and well cared for while in our custody.
Hilary has two grown sons, Mark and Michael, and a teenage daughter Genny,
who carries on the family tradition by sometimes helping her mother care for
the pets here. Hilary's family also includes Willy the cat, Phoebi, a Shih Tzu,
Ellie, a Beagle Mix and Speedy the turtle.
